2008 - The Best Year Yet?

Has 2008 been the best year yet for my life? The year started with a failed relationship which isn't worth mentioning at all. Filled with regrets and hurts, but I thank God that it ended fast enough to prevent causing further misery. I was blessed with wonderful CG members and friends who stood by me when I was hurt. And life started to pick up after this event. God is still good to me.

I may not have achieved as much as some people, but I considered it great joy to have gotten my degree with 2nd lowers honours. I was blessed with good results despite emotional distractions every semester. I was blessed with my choice of being posted back to the same school again. I am blessed with wonderful colleagues who celebrate my return and treat me really well. I am blessed to have the favour of men and to be given opportunities to serve my school in various areas.

I am blessed with a good leader in church, Wendy. Seriously, I would have given up and left church last year if she hadn't agreed to take me in. She didn't SAY she accepted me for who I am and forgave me for what I'd done wrongly. She showed her love and acceptance through her actions. She showed her trust in me by not forcing me to do things but giving me the freedom of choice to do things out of my own will. I've been cruising along for one year. I am thankful to be given opportunities to lead games, praise and offering in the CG. I need to push myself more forward rather than stand still in 2009.

I thank God for placing wonderful people in my life. Friendship and trust is often reciprocal. Thank you all my friends for being there for me and encouraging me whenever I am down. You know who you are. I will not list down names. Touch your heart and you'll know if I'm talking about you. Haha.

I thank God for helping me to get out of debts completely earlier than I had expected. I'm finally reaping what I've been sowing all these while. And I believe this is just the beginning. I'm gonna prosper and continue prospering until I become very prosperous!! I am not a burden to others financially. I am a blessing!!!

2008 gonna end in 2 days' time. This year has so far been the best year of my life. But I believe 2009 gonna be the best year YET of my life. New challenges are already knocking on my door. I need to depend even more on God in 2009. I can't afford to keep making the same mistakes. Mistakes ought to make me stronger and wiser.

"Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." =Phil 3:13-14=

Christmas Day cum The BIG DAY!

It's Christmas Day!! And also my Bro's BIG DAY! I planned to wake up at 7.30am but was awakened by the "brothers" aka "xiong dis" at my house at about 6am. So I greeted them with my messy hair and ugly spectacles. Hahaha.

Anyway, there was a big suckling pig in my house. So I couldn't resist taking a photo of it.

After the groom and his bros left my house at about 7am, it's time for me to bathe and get ready to receive the relatives at my house for the tea ceremony. I was really happy and excited.

My bro finally brought his wife back at 9.30am and we had tea ceremony after my uncle and cousin brought my grandma to my house. Here's my mum receiving the tea from my brother and da-sao.

After the tea ceremony, it was fellowship and buffet time. The caterer came late.. and I wasn't really happy about the food. I've never seen a chocolate eclaire that's longer than my hand. I also didn't see or taste any pineapple in my thai pineapple rice. And the xiao long bao wasn't the xiao long bao that we all know! It's a fried bao with peanuts inside. And the receipt put "xiao RONG bao". Gosh! It wasn't even "lian rong" inside lor. If not for the fact that many caterers only provide Christmas package on this day, I wouldn't have gotten this caterer. Pretty disappointed with Empire Food.

Anyway, there were many kids in my house and many of my mother's friends came too. Here's my nephews, Aloysius and Lionel from my father's side.

Here's my niece and nephew, Yun En and Matthew from my mother's side.

And this is Yun En and Matthew's brother, Luke(with my mum's friend).

We were so thankful to my mum's friends who helped us cleared all the food by packing them back for their family. After all of them left, I went to take a nap till 4pm and left for the hotel at 5plus.

Marina Mandarin's hotel suite is really big and nice. I didn't take the living room as there were too many unsightly glasses and food on the table. But I took the bedroom! The big and comfortable bed...

And the view from their room.

The toilet's really nice too! But I was paiseh to go in and take photos. Haha.

The relatives came rather early and I was kept busy from 6.30pm onwards at the reception. Didn't have much chance to take lots of pictures except this one.

This beary nice keychain was the door gift.

The food at Marina Mandarin is really good! Look at how beautifully curled up my shark's fin coin was on my spoon. And my whole bowl was filled with similar pieces.. not forgetting the big pieces of crab meat. Personally I felt that the food was better than those we had at food tasting. We really wondered if the other tables had similar good food.

Here's another cute and pretty niece, Cheryl, from my mother's side. She was stuck to me after I entertained her. So I didn't eat my food in peace. She was easily tickled and I loved her laughter.

After dinner, I decided that I should take a photo with my handsome, young cousin, Jianwei (Merf's neighbour). However, another older cousin came into our picture. Haha.

Then my other cousins suggested that we should take with their children as we are all YOUNG people. Haha. Those standing are my cousins and those sitting in front are my nieces and nephew from my father's side.

Why aren't there any pictures of the groom and bride? Well, their photos are all professionally taken. I only took videos of them (but most of the time, blocked by the professional photographers and videographers). Haha. I think my brother is a comedian. He gave a very short and simple thank you speech but it was quite comically brought forth because of the way he carried himself. And I almost cried when I saw the beginning montage. Our family photo was in and I was reminded of my father. He would be happy if he could be there with us. Most of his close friends attended my brother's wedding too. And it's been such a long time since I last saw many of them.

I would say that it was a very successful wedding. I was doing recept. So I knew that less than 15 people did not turn up for a 48 tables wedding especially on a public holiday, Christmas! I would say that both my bro and his wife have very good relationships with their friends and both their parents have very good relationships with their friends too. Thus, all of them gave face to attend the wedding. And for the 1st time, I saw majority of the people still sitting at the table after eating the last dish. Usually, the crowd will start walking off without eating dessert. Cool! I was happy.. especially for my bro and his wife. I hope that they are blessed greatly by all the ang baos and blessings from the relatives and friends. May God bless them with a good marriage and good relationships with both families!

Christmas Eve!

Shi came to my house on Christmas eve to visit my BB. We went to eat thai rice near my school before proceeding to Expo for the Candlelight cum Christmas service. It practically rained the whole day and we had difficulty getting a cab down to Expo. So we called cab in the end and were late. So didn't get very good seats. We sat at the left side of the hall and could only watch what's on the screen. So if the cameraman didn't do a good job, we won't get to enjoy the drama.

These were taken at my house..

Again, my dog wishes everyone a Merry Christmas!

When we reached Expo, we were still very early. So we took a few photos.. Here's Shi and I.

Xin and Shi.

During the Candlelight service, we took again. Haha.

Xin and I.

After the whole service, we went to Bedok for ZHU GAN MIAN XIAN. The soup is really fantastic!! I love it! I shared a bowl with Shi as we were both quite full. After supper(before 12 midnight), we all left for our HOME SWEET HOME!

P/S: If I did not reply your sms, pls pardon me k! I had difficulty sending out sms that day. So I gave up after a while and went to sleep and get ready for my bro's BIG day!

Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas Eve today! My dog and I would like to wish all our friends a Merry Merry Christmas!! May your Christmas be filled with the love, joy, hope and peace of God.

Tomorrow will be my brother's wedding. I had some problems with the Buffet Caterer. Sigh. A bit sianz. Well, I hope the food is nice. I went for my first full manicure and pedicure yesterday. Not very used to having purple fingernails though and I had to do things cautiously for fear of the nail polish wearing off before the big day.

Anyway, after Christmas will be thanksgiving. My thanksgiving speech will be out soon...

Christmas is coming

I went California Fitness with Shi on Tuesday. I didn't quite enjoy the working out in the gym. I think swimming is still the best. I ran on the treadmill for 30 minutes and after that I lost all other motivations to do other exercises. Maybe it's because I'm very conscious about people around me. I don't really dare to try out the different machines on my own. And our 2 hours free trial is not enough for us to try everything. So well, I guess I won't be going again. I am more interested in swimming..

The days passed by rather swiftly. Somehow, this year I don't know who I can invite for Christmas services. Christmas services are on 24th and 25th December. 25th is my brother's wedding. So I can only attend the 24th Dec service. Somehow I felt a little limited. I can only go for either JW or Expo service. Really hope some of my friends will come and experience a joyful and peaceful Christmas this year.

Tried ordering catering food for my brother's tea ceremony on the 25th of Dec. Gosh. Most caterers are only providing Christmas menus on that day. I almost faint. From the web, I found Empire Food. Not really sure if it's good but it provides normal menus on that day and there's no service charge or GST. Sounds too good to be true. I just pray hard that the food will be nice!!!

Sick

I didn't catch a good rest last night after eating the potent MA LA (spicy) TIE DAN. It was so spicy that I took some ice cream to neutralize the effect. I think this was too much for my stomach to bear. Only a few minutes later, my stomach churned non-stop till I fell asleep hours later. The worst thing was, my right eye was suddenly red, itchy, teary and swollen. So the stomach churned non-stop and the eye teared non-stop.

And it wasn't a nice feeling that after I woke up in the morning, the churning's still there and the eye's still itchy, red and swollen. I was so in pain and tired that I gave this morning's service a miss.

It was only 12 hours after the 1st churning that I managed to get rid of the waste and feel better. Does this mean I should never eat that TIE DAN again? It's very spicy but VERY nice. Much softer than the original flavour. Oh God! I don't like this weak stomach of mine. =(

Computer idiot at work

I can say that I know nothing about computer but I'm proud that I managed to fix up my own computer during my NIE diploma days (of course with the help of a friend). We actually bought all the different parts of a computer and fix it up ourselves. I was really glad that I only spent about $1500 then to get a good 14 inch monitor, a dvd drive, a CD writer, a printer and a set of powerful speakers. All those are still in good working condition after more than 7years. It's now parked in the living room and for my mum to use.

This lappy that I'm using now costs me $2500 and seemed to be giving me lots of problem. I was really glad that I managed to revive it after it died on me last Wednesday. And I spent the whole of yesterday reformatting it and downloading whichever softwares that I need. It's amazing how a computer idiot can actually do so much. If you asked me to help you with yours, I can't. I am only bold enough to try on my own things. If all things fail, I'll just have to get a new one for myself. I don't want to be liable for other people's asset.

And the happiest thing is, I finally cleared all my debts!!! After so many years of living in debts. I'm finally free from bondage. I'm sick and tired of living in debts. No more debts from now on. I must guard my spending especially with my first credit card.

Although we've just gotten our pay, please do not assume that I have a lot of money to spend. I've just paid off my debts and blessed my brother and his wife quite a big sum of money for their wedding. I guess that's the least that I can do for them. So I'm now back to normal living with that little amount of money left. Cutting down on social outings again because I still need to get Christmas gift for gift exchange, 3 more wedding ang baos, end of the year coutdown and appreciation. All these compulsory events are quite taxing on me. However, from next month onwards, all the money that I earned will be all mine! This thought excites me!

I think it's time to think plan next year's goals and life directions.

Updates!

I have not been blogging for a few days. After Jean's wedding last Saturday, I had been busy helping to organise a birthday celebration for Wen and a farewell high tea for my colleagues.

I don't have photos for Jean's wedding because I couldn't find the extra battery for my camera that day. Sadz.

On Monday, we went for a surprise birthday celebration with Wen. We thought everything was well planned for and this time we would surprised her. Haha. But being our smart leader, she already smelled something fishy going on since Sun. So well, it wasn't a surprise surprise for her. The food at Mariner's Corner is VERY GOOD! We had a wonderful meal there with very friendly manager and waiters of the restaurant. If you are thinking of having western food and don't know where to go, you can try this place. The steak was very tasty, tender and juicy. Well worth the money. It's at 120 Cantonment Road #01-02, Maritime House. Free parking for those who are driving.

Here's the ribeye steak I ate that day. My meal was $23 inclusive of a drink, a soup, garlic bread and salad bar.

All those who turned up that day.

Merf, Xin and I went to catch BOLT because the night was still young and we didn't want to go home so early. It's quite a nice cartoon. I love it. BOLT is soooooo cute in the movie.

On Tuesday, I was busy doing the video for Wen when Shi suddenly msned me to go out. So Deb, Shi and I chatted on msn for a while and we decided to go for a movie, BEAST STALKER. Before we met up, Deb went for her driving lessons while Shi went to climb stairs (for exercising purposes) and I went to the pool to swim. I was quite happy that within a shorter time (as compared to previous times), I managed to swim 22 laps. So we met for dinner at a western food shop (Can't remember the name of the shop) at level one cineleisure. After tasting good food on Monday, the spaghetti just didn't hit my expectation. Anyway, guess what Shi ate? See below for an answer.

BEAST STALKER is a nice show that I would recommend if you like action and touching scenes. I cried badly towards the end of the show because it's so touching. I think I'm easily touched. Haha.

On Wednesday, we had a farewell high tea for Jason and Elaine because both of them are leaving our school. It's our usual lunchtime buddies that turned up. We went to Zhou Kitchen at Far East Square. $12.80++ which adds up to about $17.50 per pax. Nice food but rather slow service. Highly recommended too if you like Dim Sum. No xiao long bao though. We all had our fill. I didn't have dinner that day.

And we all went back home rather early. I was a bit unsatisfied because it's Wednesday night.. Should be out partying but I was home before 8pm. Haha. Anyway, this was also the day that my lappy almost died on me. Imagine I was almost done with Wen's video and my lappy kena some virus. So the whole night I was trying to restore my lappy and install some antivirus in it. To cut the long story short, I was really thankful to God for "resurrecting" my lappy. Like what Eunice said, we believe in the resurrection power of God. Haha. God can save anyone and anything!!

On Thursday, we had CGM. It's been a long time since I last carried so many things to CGM. Eliz passed me a few packs of My Hope Singapore, I brought my lappy with its adaptor. Ultimate heavy. We had another surprise birthday celebration part 2 for Wen. I think this time round, we were quite successful. Instead of playing My Hope Singapore VCD, I played the video that I made for Wen. Instead of just passing her love offering in an envelope, we rolled the money up and put in a long, slim box. I think her 1st facial expression seemed to be "Huh? I thought I said I want cash? What is this??" Haha. I think she was really shocked. Finally the mission was accomplished. I felt a sense of achievement and relief. Phew!

Here's a CG photo that we took after all the whooha.

Here's how the CD cover looks like in front.

The back.

I'm not very artistically inclined. So it took me quite a while to complete the cover. Also I have a lack of art materials. But I am very pleased with the result. I think it's nice. It's been a long time since I last spent so much effort and so many hours to do a birthday gift for someone. Hee. I am happy. Happy Birthday Wen!

My hobby is swimming and watching dramas!

I went to swim again yesterday evening. Saw a swimming coach scolding his student. I think it's quite humiliating for a little girl to be scolded so loudly at a public place. She was made to do 200 squats at the side of the pool. Poor girl. Then, I noticed the dark clouds in the sky. So after I finished my 20th lap, I rapidly got up to bathe. While I was bathing, I overheard a conversation, "Mummy, it's raining now. Did you bring an umbrella along?" My first thought was, "Argh! I'm stuck in the swimming complex!"

After bathing, I walked out and sat down at a corner waiting for the rain to get smaller. Thank God, it wasn't long before it became a very light drizzle. I cycled home without getting very drenched. I was really thankful to God because everytime I swim, it rains but I was always blessed not to be drenched. Haha. My friend said I bring rain to the pool. I think that's true. Just a thought of going swimming will cause the dark clouds to form. I'm serious. It happened many times. (Try me now in this, if God will not open up the windows of heaven and pour down such RAIN on the earth.) Haha. Modified from Malachi 3:10.

When I reached home, I was so tired. Yet, after watching Little Nonya, I was so awake that I chatted with some friends till 1 or 2am. Then I proceeded to watch THE CHAMPIONS on Mobtv(because Jeanette Aw was the lead actress). I watched episodes 15-20. So I only slept at 6am. I was amazed that my mum woke up at 5am and started ironing clothes. Old people really don't need a lot of sleep huh. I still need my 9 hours or more sleep everyday.

Financial advisor in the making

Yesterday was the 1st time I took offering in my current cg. I have not taken offering for more than a year. I was amazed at my courage to request to take it in the 1st place. Anyway, I spent quite a lot of time trying to think of what to share, which verses and how to present it in an easy to understand manner.

I thought about using the analogy of credit cards, investments and insurance. I took about 3 or 4 hours to prepare and research on investment then I decided to use insurance instead. And, I kept praying that it'll turn out good.

Anyway, in CGM, during worship, somehow I feel that I should change my message into something else. But I can't really piece everything together. My mind was turning so fast that I can't concentrate. So in the end, I still used that message I've prepared. I'll use this new idea next time (if there is a next time).

I think I was too animated (as always) and everyone started laughing throughout the whole time I'm selling God's Prosperity Plan (GPP) to them. And Jas took a video of me! Anyway, thanks to those who encouraged me by saying they will buy my plan. Some told me to switch to sales or be a financial advisor. Well, if I don't teach, I may switch to be a real estate agent. Hahaha! I still love teaching though!

I hope after all the hilarious moments, I've driven GPP into their hearts and caused them to give a good offering.

Little Nonya..

Before I touched on the main theme for this entry. I would like to show a picture of the salad I had for the past 3 days.

Well, it doesn't look appetising but it does taste good. I had apples, ham, lettuce, baked cashew nuts, eggs, cheese and even sunflower seeds and smoked salmon sometimes. It's amazing how I survived without rice for so many days. But I'm kinda sick of it. Think I need to think of other food to add for tomorrow's meals. Even my dog is sick of eating apples. Hahaha.

Hopefully I can go for another swim tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

Now to my Little Nonya. I'm super hooked on the show. I'm so impressed with Jeanette Aw's acting. She can really act out the life and soul of the characters in the show. Her acting touches my heart deeply. I cried my eyes sore on Wednesday night as I tried to watch Thursday's episode on Mobtv (Cos I know I have CGM on Thursday so I watched the episode 1st). 2 thumbs up for Jeanette!

After reading Elaine's blog, I realised this show will spark a great interest in nonya kuehs. All those selling kuehs will be blessed this season! Kuehs kuehs kuehs!!! (Ops! I'm on diet. No kuehs for me. I don't like sweet stuff anyway.)

Everyday, I'm looking forward to watch Little Nonya. It gives me a reason to live another day. Haha. Sounds very exaggerating. Alright. It gives me a reason to do all that I need to do in the day and stay home at night to watch TV!!!

Hurray to LITTLE NONYA! I'll make sure I'll vote for Jeanette Aw to be the Best Actress in 2009!

Exercise Exercise Exercise!!!!

Alright, what have I been up to lately?? I'm thinking of ways and means to shed off my extra fats. Yesterday I rose up to a bright sunny day and decided to go swimming. However, the minute I went to wash up and get ready, the dark clouds appear. So in the end, I stayed at home to do my research on fat loss program.

Today, the sky was great. So I went to bathe and get ready for the pool. Went to get a new pair of goggles and I proceeded to the pool. After my 15th lap, I strained my left arm muscles. So I swam without using my arms for the next few laps. Just as I was resting and waiting to complete my 20th lap, there was a sudden downpour and lightning flashed. I was scared man! So I quickly swam to the other end to complete my last round and went to bathe. Thank God that I managed to hit my target of 20 laps before it started to rain. God is good! I've finally took the 1st step to a healthy living. Salad for dinner tonight!

It's wedding affairs..

We had our 1st Hen's party in the CG for Jean last Friday. Had quite a number of funny games together. It's more of a time of laughter for everybody. Hope Jean had a good time too!

Let the pictures do the talking.

The official sponsor of toilet paper for the night.

Presenting the models from our own wedding gown designers.

Here's the queen with her suitors.

Of cos, we couldn't miss having a group picture with all the gals.

The photos of the guys are not in my camera.

Yesterday was Diana's wedding at Raffles Hotel. It's my 1st time into the ballroom and the hotel room. I must say that I was indeed impressed with the service in this 6-Star hotel. It's not 6-Star for no reason. We all loved Diana's dresses for the night. Here's a peek at her 1st dress with a traditional paper umbrella found in her room.

This is Jeslin's little gal and me. She's such a darling!!!!

And this is the amount of red wine I had.. actually I only had 4 glasses. Still very much sober. No Sweat!

Here's the beautiful locket from Raffles Hotel. Everyone was "fighting" over it.

From today onwards, I have 4 more weddings to attend. May God bless me financially so that I can be a GREAT blessing to others! Amen!

Back from camp!

I just got back from a 3 days 2 nights camp for the P6 student leaders. I enjoyed myself thoroughly because I didn't have to do much. The leaders planned and managed their own camp. I was just a facilitator. I could even watch my favorite 7pm and 9pm show while the kids had their activities. I taught them how to play the "Woo La La" game and it was hilarious! It's so much easier to lead the kids in games than to lead the adults in games.

Anyway, I had the opportunity to mingle around with the kids and talk to them casually. We had fun chatting and laughing together. It's amazing to know how fast time flies. There were lots of students that I had taught before and some that had never crossed my path at all. My greatest surprise was discovering that one of my TAF kids, during my first few years of teaching, had transformed into a beautiful, slim and fit girl. I was shocked and amazed. She told me she took about 1 year to shed off those fats. I was and still am, impressed by her determination and will power when she shared her secrets to success with me.

Here's her secret:
1. Eat very little for breakfast and have something simple for lunch.
2. Sometimes she skips dinner. (Not recommended)
3. Avoid all the fried and oily food but she rewards herself once a week.
4. Avoid all cold drinks because cold drinks slows down our metabolic rate.
5. Run on the treadmill for 38 minutes EVERYDAY. (Increase the duration week by week)

What is it that motivates her to be so determined?
1. Shame of being fat. (Ops! That's a negative motivator. I'm still thinking of ways to scrap away TAF Club entirely.)
2. Her mum wants her to exercise.
3. She had a crush on a boy who is slim and she wanted to be compatible to the boy. (Love does have a great impact on someone's life.)

So now that she had lost so much weight, what is it that kept her going on?
1. She felt good about herself. (I believe her new image has given her more confidence in herself.)

She told me that for the 1st and 2nd months after doing all these, she didn't feel much difference. However, slowly but surely, she realised that her stomach got smaller and she became lighter and slimmer as well. So she'll keep on with what she's doing.

As much as I don't quite agree with her eating patterns, I will try to drink lesser cold drinks, eat less oily and fried food and try to exercise more regularly to shed off my excess and non-essential fats. I will also drink lesser alcoholic drinks (especially beer) because they'll give me unnecessary fats and carbohydrates too. I AM MOTIVATED to live more healthily from now onwards! All thanks to this girl. She has shown with her life what it means by "all things are possible." And I am glad that she's a child of God because I know she'll always be in the good hands of our Father.

Although I was tired after the camp, I was glad that I went. A little sad that they won't be in our school again. I'll miss them.

Aftermath of Asia Conference

I guess everyone's tired like I am after Asia Conference. The heat of queueing for hours outside the hall and then the ultimate coldness inside the halls caused me to be down with flu now. I've been sleeping long hours since yesterday and today and I still feel quite sick. It's also the first time I stayed in air-conditioned place and clapped so much and so hard that my palm actually split and bled. Thank God it wasn't very serious. I controlled my clapping during the Finale.

I pray for healing as I'm going for a camp tomorrow till Fri. I hope I can still enjoy myself with the kids.

Anyway, I finally finished reading "My Story" by Dave Pelzer. I'm truly amazed by his "never give up" attitude towards life and giving his all in everything. Although I find the writings a little too long winded, I am blessed by his testimony. So, feeling great that I've finished reading such a thick book, I went into Tecman to get myself a new book to read (knowing fully well that I have many "new" books at home). Hahaha! One of my hobbies is to buy books. And I usually read half of the book only. =P

Reading is a good hobby. May I continue to cultivate such endurance to finish all the books that I buy!

Finale!

Asia Conference came to an end last night with resounding success! I was so tired in the morning that I was tempted not to go for the morning service. Thank God Eunice encouraged me and came round my house to pick me up to expo. I was glad that I went. =D

After service, I rushed off to attend a colleague's wedding. Twisted my ankle while running for the cab. Thank God it wasn't a serious twist. Immediately after giving him the ang bao and picture taking with all my colleagues, I quickly rushed back to expo to queue for the Finale night session. Thank God one of my colleagues was on the way to Changi.. So I shared a cab with her (Cut down my cab expenses). This entire week, I overspent on my budget. Spent a lot on cab and was challenged every session to give a good offering. So, the next few days I hope I don't have to spend a lot. I'm cutting down on my social gatherings. I'm sorry if I can't go out with you.

JJ Lin came for the Finale night. I managed to video-ed him.. and was WARNED by a security not to take videos. =P Thank God by the time he stopped me, he had finished performing the song.

The session was 5 hours long and I queued outside on my own for about 1 hour or more before entering the hall. I'll blog more about my feelings in another entry. Still too exhausted to think and reflect. So now, photos first!

This is taken by a supposedly expert.. hmm.. Xin and YY seemed to be the mains and the rest of us like calefares..

Jas and I.

So we ended off with singing "谢谢有你们" and "That's What Friends Are For" with lots of poppers and balloons. Wonderful ending! Hallelujah!

The God I Know

This is a song that touches me deeply and ministered to me this season of my life. I feel that I have a great responsibility to be God's light in the world. Tears seemed to always flow out of my eyes whenever we worship God with this song.

THE GOD I KNOW
CITY HARVEST CHURCH

WHEN THE STAGE IS BARE TONIGHT
THERE'S NO ONE ELSE
JUST YOU AND ME
WHEN THE CURTAINS CLOSE BEHIND
THERE'S NO PRETENSE
I'M ON MY KNEES

I WILL LAY DOWN MY LIFE
FOR THE LOVE SACRIFICE
YOU GAVE TO ME
IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF YOU
ALL BECAUSE OF YOU

THE GOD I KNOW
RIGHTEOUS AND HOLY
THE GOD I KNOW
FAITHFUL AND TRUE
THE GOD I KNOW
MY TOWER OF REFUGE
HEARTS ARE HEALED
CHRIST REVEALED

THE GOD I KNOW
LIGHT OF THE CITY
THE GOD I KNOW
STRENGTHENS THE WEAK
THE GOD I KNOW
YOUR HEART BEATS WITHIN ME
AS YOU ARE
SO ARE WE (To verse)
SO ARE WE(To Bridge)

THIS IS MY CRY
MY ONE DESIRE
MORE OF YOU
MORE OF YOU

THE CHURCH HE KNOWS
RIGHTEOUS AND HOLY
THE CHURCH HE KNOWS
IS FAITHFUL AND TRUE
THE CHURCH HE KNOWS
A TOWER OF REFUGE
HEARTS ARE HEALED
CHRIST REVEALED

THE CHURCH HE KNOWS
LIGHT OF THIS CITY
THE CHURCH HE KNOWS
STRENGTHENS THE WEAK
THE CHURCH HE KNOWS
IS STRONG AND MIGHTY
AS HE IS, SO ARE WE

Asia Conference

Asia Conference started on Wednesday.. and I must say that I am very impress and proud of what my church is doing and glad that we are under the leadership of Pastor Kong, who has such foresight and passion for the lost. It's been a long time since I was so excited about a conference. I told myself that I will avail myself for whichever sessions that I can attend.

The opening night was a night of inspiration and assurance of what I'm gonna pursue in the next few years. Pastor talked about most Christians staying in the 1st space where we are only comfortable with communicating with Christians in the church. Christians whom non-Christians would "classify" as weird and fake in the real world. Christians who are critical and judgemental about non-Christians and even their own fellow bros & sis-in-Christ. He challenged all those with such mentalities to move to the 2nd space-The Marketplace. More than just staying in the Marketplace, we should excel in it and be invited to the 3rd space, where the governors and people of high authorities are. It confirmed my goal of switching from the teaching track to leadership track. It's not that I want recognition and prestige, but rather I strongly believe it is only when I have reached the 3rd space, that my voice will be heard and I can do more for God and the kids. I want to be like Paul in the Bible (Acts 17:16-34).

Yesterday I went for my elective-Effective Counselling. And I am blessed by what Pastor Mike Connell had shared. He told us that everyone of us need to learn to take responsibility of our own actions, feelings and consequences. A lot of times, we like to blame others for things that had happened. We tend to say things like, "He doesn't like me, that's why he's always not happy with my performance." "It's useless to talk to him because he will always insist that he is right." We fail to realised that although we can't change the other party, we could have done something to change ourselves (mentality and actions etc) to change the situations. I can't change others, but I can change myself for my own good. I'm living my life, not other's life. Other's life is not within my control. But my life is in my hands and I can feel empowered when I am in control. People who refused to change themselves will always live in misery because they'll always feel that others are against them. They will always feel victimised by others. I must take responsibility and stop shifting the blame to others if I truly want myself to be happy.

Pastor Mike explained his point by giving us an example of Adam. When God asked Adam whether he had eaten the fruit of the tree, Adam refused to take responsibility of his actions and he shifted the blame to Eve and God by saying, "The WOMAN whom YOU gave me, gave me the fruit to eat." From that moment on, God stopped talking to Adam and the whole of mankind starts to experience the consequence of that irresponsibility. Wow! I didn't realise that God actually stopped talking to us when we refused to take responsibility. At that instant, I immediately told God that I was sorry for what I had done previously. I am responsible for what I've become. I really pray that God will give me another chance to do His will.

I still have many other thoughts in my head.. But I should be preparing for tonight's session. It's gonna be another impactful and blessed night for all of us! Praise the Lord for what He is doing!

It's a test of patience..

What an adventurous day!! When I finished my meeting yesterday, I went to Kimage to have my haircut. I stood outside the shop and hesitated to go in because there's only one teacher inside and he's the one who cut my hair previously and I HATED that hairstyle. After a while, I realised I really need to get a haircut, so I went in in faith. To my surprise, the other teacher was in! And the person cutting my hair went to get him to help me.. I was really elated.. but for 10 minutes, then reality sets in.. He told the other not so good teacher to take over because he's going for dinner. SADZ!

In the end, I took 1hr 30min to cut my hair... The longest so far! They are supposed to compensate me with a free haircut.. I dyed my hair too.. So in total, I took 5 hours just to cut and dye my hair. It was really a test of patience.

Then I went to KFC to pack my dinner. Only 2 counters were opened. So I went to the shorter queue. The woman was moving like a snail!!! I was so frustrated. The queue next to mine was moving so fast that after serving 3 customers, mine only moved once. So I jumped over to the next queue in disgust.

I really had a super long day!

Now, a lot of friends told me my left side is too LONG and they strongly encouraged me to go for a trim!!! So I'm getting down to Kimage NOW to trim.

Back from JB.

I'm back! I kinda enjoyed the trip.. Although I feel very tired physically. I think I really need to thank God for blessing me with nice children to take care of. On the bus, I took care of 10 girls and they were really very cooperative. Very easy to take care of them. In my villa, I only have another group of 5 girls to take care of and two of them are closer to me. I thank God for them because I brought them out for competition before and so we all knew that we are Children of God. So we can talk openly with one another. I played BIG 2 with the 2 gals till 12 midnight before going to bed. Even when I had to take over one of the group to bring them around for activities on day 2, I feel that the children were not as bad as what my colleague had made them to be. It must be the grace of God that I did not experience the frustrations that some of my colleagues experienced. But then again, maybe we had different mentalities towards different situations because our situations might be the same but our responses could be different. Thank God also for journey mercy. We had a very safe trip.

This is the BIG villa that I stayed in with Elaine and 5 other kids.

Check out the big living room with it's dining room.

I didn't take pictures of the kitchen because it's too normal and unnecessary. And the master bedroom was occupied by the kids.. Poor Elaine and I had to stay in the "maid's room" downstairs. See how small our room is..

The golf resort that we stayed in was SO BIG that we need to walk 10 minutes or take a bus/MPV to our gathering place every now and then. The scenery is beautiful.

I played golf and rode on a horse for the 1st time in my life. Cool! Golf is really not an easy game as most people think. I can't hit a golf ball well at all. It's definitely not my cup of tea. Haha. I don't mind learning how to ride a horse though.

It's a waste.. to be staying in such a big place for only one night. It'll be great if I'm there for hols rather than taking care of kids.. BUT, I still can't stand the lizard shit!!!

Random

Have not been blogging much lately. I've lost the joy of chatting with people on MSN. Maybe I've already been talking a lot in school. When I reached home, I'm just too lazy and tired to communicate with others.

I spent everyday of last week watching 命中注定我爱你. It's such a nice show. So ridiculous and funny in the beginning, heart-breakingly sad in the middle, and ended off with a happy note. The drama caught my entire being so much that I'm feeling lost now that I've finished watching it. And I love all the soundtracks in the show. The one that's running in my blog now is one of the songs that kept playing during the sad moments of the drama. The songs are my blog song, ringtone and sms tone. Hee!

Anyway, I went for a YOG briefing yesterday at Republic Poly. I am very impressed by their library but not their carparks. There's a cafe in the library... and the best thing is, they have 3 pool tables and one LCD TV with Wii there! So instead of a quiet library, one can hear lots of laughter at this relaxing part of the library. And I think they loan out games as well. So I think it's a pretty cool thing to have such a corner in school. Their cafe sells CHEAP COFFEE & ICE BLENDED drinks. The need to improve part is their multi-storey carpark. We got stuck when we reached.. drove all the way up to 5th floor takes about 10 minutes. We got stuck again when we were off from the meeting. This time we were stuck for about 20 minutes before we got out of the carpark. Inefficient man!!!

After that I went to Botak Jones with Jem. It's been a long time since we last spend time to chat about ourselves and our mindset. We shared a pint of Hoegarden and I fell in love with it. So I bought 4 bottles back today for my own pleasure! I'm an alcoholic! Haha!

Disappointed

My kids finished their Maths paper yesterday. I was really disappointed with their results. Comparing with their SA1 results, they did not improve at all. My class is ranked the lowest. I have 18 failures in a class of 39. How encouraging is that? I feel that I'd wasted all my Tuesday and Friday giving them remedials.

It doesn't help when the kids are still so happy and noisy. Now I just want the holidays to come quickly and that I will not see them again.

I'm so glad that I will not see them next Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. I've never had such a worst lot of students in one class. Feel sad for those who really want to learn and improve. I FAILED!!!

Lesser pictures, more words.

I've been lazy to bring my camera out lately.. I think I've not taken picture for 2 weeks. So no pictures but lots of words.

And I wanted to say this, I went out with Yeejia to Marina Square and Mustafa on Friday. I bought 1 Reebok and 1 Adidas top for school because most of my PESS T-shirt have holes. I'm quite affected that I used to wear S or XS, but now I've upgraded to M. So I'm determined to go jogging/exercise with my new tops!

And we had a good fellowship with each other. As usual, we talked and walked and stopped at some place talking. Haha. If we weren't disturbed by a cute little rat, we would have continued talking till midnight. It was time well spent!

To add on to what I wrote yesterday...

Adding on to what I wrote yesterday, I love to spend time with myself. I can be quite lazy sometimes, choosing to spend time with myself at the comfort of my home. So well, to those whom I've rejected to meet, I'm sorry. It's not easy to get out of the comfort zone. Hee.

And just after writing yesterday's entry, I managed to meet up with Suzy again! She left her members to meet us instead for a chillout at Jazz@Southbridge. We had good fellowship with one another. It's quite a nice chillout place and it sells JAGER BOMB! I only realised that after drinking 1 beer and a Baileys Irish Cream. So well, spent a lot of money again. But I enjoyed myself!

Hurray to friendships!

Making time...

I realised one thing, we will never be free unless we decide to make time to be free.

After the June holidays, I was busy planning for Olympic Month and preparing for school's Cultural Night Concert. I told myself that I will be free after these 2 activities. Lo and behold! There was a Family Day that came after the Cultural Night Concert. After Family Day, there was National Day celebration followed by Teacher's Day dinner performance. Then I thought, everything should be over right?? I should be free from projects and all.. But I was told to be in the Children's Day Committee to help out as well. So well, I thought again that Children's Day should be the last project of the year already. BUT, PE department still need to plan post exam activities. Most of these activities were planned and coordinated by my colleagues, so I'm not so involved. And I received an email from my dear friend that I am in Art Exhibition committee. So well, when will I be free? On top of these, I was arrowed to go for a PW sharing on behalf of a colleague. I was also to attend a YOG briefing and I registered to go for a ICIP trip to Yunnan in Dec.

Aren't I busy? Yes! But I am also very free to go for lunch and tea breaks at least once every week. I may be in school till 5pm. But I wasn't doing work all the time. Most of the time I was busy chatting and spending time with my colleagues. We are the ones to plan our own time. I can be busy yet free at the same time. I can't run away from the things that I need to do. Work is never ending, but I make the effort to take breaks in between so that my life will not be unbalanced. I'm enjoying so much of my work life that you'll realise I've grown horizontally these days. After a hard day's work, I really need that 1-2 hrs lunch out with my friends to recharge myself. And I am really thankful that I have khakis who share this same recharging sentiments with me.

Despite this busyness, I managed to meet Kim for dinner on 20th Oct. That's how I started to think that, as long as I decide to make time for someone, I can be free. There are people who always "plan" to go out with me. But they seemed to be real busy. So we always didn't get to meet. Either we are not fated to meet or we just didn't make time for one another.

1 person that I truly admire is Suzy. She's working in accounts department. She's a CGL and most importantly, she's a friend to me and everyone else that she knows. Her work is ultra busy (if you know how the accounts department works), she needs to spend time with her youth members (and she really spend a lot of time with them), she needs to attend leader's meeting and many other meetings with the leaders, but she'll always make time to meet us once in a while. Although every time we see her, she may be busy making phone calls or sms-ing, yet without fail she will spend time with us. I've not known her for very long, but I know that this friend is a friend for a lifetime. *Salute*

We all have people that we like to spend our time with. So it's pretty normal that sometimes we make excuses not to meet someone and we make the effort to meet others. So well, that's life! There are still others who enjoy my company! I'm perfectly fine with that. You should be too!

I'm sick.. STILL.

I'm currently in school.. in a dilemma. Should I go home then go out to meet Yeejia or should I wait for her to knock off? I'm coughing and feeling sick. :( And my legs super sore now.. and I'm super hungry.. :( Think she's not eating dinner later. :( Hungry hungry.. sick sick!

Sleep is my favorite pasttime.

It's been a long while since I last blogged. What was I busy with? I was busy getting myself busy in school and was exhausted by the time I reached home. So I slept pretty early for the past few weeks.

On Monday, I went KTV with GML and Elaine after our work. Elaine was on leave though. Anyway, we sang from 3.15 to 6.15pm and then left to have our dinner at Far East.

When I got home, my throat hurts so badly that I fell really sick at night. I was then on mc on Tuesday. Slept the whole day without doing anything. Was down with fever at night but amazingly the fever subsided when I woke up on Wednesday morning.

Went to school on Wednesday. After school, we went to Kallang Leisure Park for our lunch. Then went to bank in some money with Mr Low. All the banks around us were closed. So we went all the way to Toa Payoh instead. By the time I got back to school, it was already 5plus. Then, I went down to Funan to get my lappy! It's back! That's why I'm blogging now.

Thursday was PSLE marking 1st day. It was a boring day as we waited till 12 plus before we started marking our 1st paper and we reported at 7.45am. Coincidentally, YY and another friend, Serene, came over to my room to help us with the shading of results. Cool! We had fun chatting and working together. After marking, the Children's Day Committee went to a Muslim restaurant for a sumptuous seafood meal! We even went to have Rochor Beancurd after dinner. SHIOK! But I was really tired when I got home.

Friday was another day of marking. It was really tiring because we didn't get any slack time at all. From 8am to 5pm, we marked and marked and marked. I really dragged myself to go for CGM at night. Thank God though that I get to take a 40min nap before going for CGM. My Christian colleague was shocked that I had to travel so far for CGM. Well, what to do? I'm not complaining. But sometimes after a long day of work, I really struggled within myself to fight against my flesh.

So due to the lack of sleep for the past few days, I slept till 2pm today before waking up to have food. Haha. I guess it's the cough and nose medicine that caused me to be so drowsy. After my brunch, I took the medicine again and I went back to sleep till 7pm. That's how strong the medicine is. Drowsy man!! But I don't mind cos I love to sleep and I need it badly! I'm someone who can't do without enough sleep. I'll get nasty with people around. So if you realise that I didn't get much sleep the night before and I was late, never irritate me with comments such as, "Why are you late?", "Late again", "Hurry up" etc even if you are just concerned. I'll get pissed off and might even get nasty with my replies. Sometimes, silence is better than asking. On my part, I will try to sleep early every night. Do not try to sms me after 10pm unless it's very important. But then again, I may be asleep already. I'll usually ignore night sms.

Alright. Time to say good night, take my medicine and have a good night's sleep. You too! Sleep early! Have a healthy lifestyle. No excuses!

Cos I have a bad day!

What makes a bad day?

1. Kids pissed me off during their lessons.
2. The screw for the high jump pole became loose.
3. The basketball kids were rowdy and playing a fool during CCA.
4. Realised that someone had punctured my bicycle front tyre.
5. Walking all the way to 3 bike shops only to find out that 2 were closed and 1 doesn't repair bikes.

I think the day is bad enough. I just want to sleep and rest.

Random

I'm overjoyed.. I can bring my laptop to Funan for servicing instead. But I wonder when I'll do that. Haha.

Last Friday we had our enriching life series part 2. Again, Pastor kept promoting Tic-Tac-Toe. Maybe it's really not a bad thing to attend one session to get to know more friends. I might just find my Mr Right. As days passed, all the more I'm certain that I can only accept someone with the DNA of City Harvest. So instead of going for speed dating or those organised by SDU or Teachers Network, I should just try Tic-Tac-Toe. Haha. Once again, I was reminded that I have not because I ask not. So I shall start praying about the ideal person and be specific about it.

Also, from that Friday on, I've been proclaiming to myself every morning that I prospered, and continued prospering till I become very prosperous! Amen!

Sun's service was about Breaking the Curse of Debts. Definitely not the first time hearing this message. But I was very impacted and certained that I will break out of my debts soon. I took a step of faith to give double the amount my normal offering. I really pray that I can break the curse of debt and start living in prosperity. I am prospering, and will continue prospering till I become very prosperous!!! Amen!

After lunch that day, I went to buy a year's supply of contact lens because it's cheaper to buy in bulk. And I bought a pair of coloured lens to try. And I was SO tempted to buy a pair of spectacles! I looked so nice in it!!!!! But, the first step in breaking the curse of debts is to plan my spending wisely. Gosh.. I love drinking so much.. will I be able to still enjoy and yet be out of debt? I must!!

So I thought this marks the end of the busy term.. well, 2 more to go-art exhibition and post exam activities!! Gambatte! Last project for the year! Aja aja fiti! I'm quite fortunate to be in projects that are led by capable and creative people. Cos we usually work very well together and deliver the projects through very well too! We'll end the year with a big bang!
